Detoxify Your Body

Many cultures around the world, including Chinese medicine and Indian ayurvedic systems, have followed detoxification regiments as a way to clean, rest and nourish the body from inside out. Eliminating toxins help protect the body from disease and restore optimum health.

Essentially with a detoxification you are cleaning your blood. Your body also eliminates toxins through the kidneys, liver, intestines, lungs, lymph and skin.

Helping the body's natural cleaning process, a detoxification:

  • Improves blood circulation
  • Rests the organs through fasting
  • Stimulates the liver to drive toxins from the body
  • Eliminates toxins through the kidneys, intestines and skin
  • Refuels the body with healthy nutrients

Guidelines when following a detox program:

  • Remove greasy foods, sugar and saturated fat from your diet
  • Avoid alcohol, caffeine, over the counter drugs, cigarettes
  • Minimize use of chemical-based household products
  • Choose all natural personal health care products
  • Drink 1/2 ounces of water per pound of body weight
  • Breathe deeply to get oxygen circulating
  • Eat plenty of fiber, including fresh vegetables and fruits, brown rice, beets, radishes, artichokes, seaweed
  • When taking a shower, run hot water for 30 seconds then cold water for 30 seconds. Repeat 7 times
  • Get plenty of rest
  • Dry-brush your skin
  • Sweat to eliminate waste
  • Stay away from stressful situations
  • Exercise, practice yoga, meditate

Everyone should detox at least once a year. However, nursing mothers, children, patients with chronic degenerative diseases, cancer or tuberculosis should not perform a detox unless it is recommended by their health care practitioner. Always consult your practitioner when deciding if a detox program will benefit you.
